Images Of Different Shapes Of Viruses

Fernando Meirelles and Kátia Lund - City of God

"We get to City of God, hoping to find paradise . Many families were left homeless by the floods or fires caused by criminals in the favelas. The philosophy of the government then was this: they have nowhere to live?, Because City of God. There was no light, no asphalt, no buses but the government of the rich passing of our problems. As I said, City of God was very far from the typical postcard of Rio de Janeiro. "

1960 Buscapé ( Alexandre Rodrigues) is a child raised in City of God. His older brother, Marrecas, Tenderness Trio is part of a group of teenagers who are devoted to petty theft. The trio consists of Hairy ( Jonathan Haagensen), Pliers ( Jefecharder Suplino ) and Marrecas (Renato de Souza ). With Trio Tenderness is usually the younger brother of Hairy, Dadinho ( Douglas Silva).
After the botched robbery at a motel, the way the trio separated. Pliers embraces the priesthood, Marrecas Hairy gone forever and die shot. To reflect the death of Hairy, City of God is filled with journalists and Buscapé decides which wants to engage, want to be a photographer.

The film covers three different decades: 60, 70 and 80. Since the birth of City of God, through the discovery of the cocaine market until a gang war that forever mark the favela.

This is a film so hard and interesting. It is easy to see but worth it.

Perhaps most remarkable is the address. Fernando Meirelles Kátia Lund and do a great job, obviously following the style of Guy Ritchie . The footage not save anything. The story is set in a violent neighborhood, and violence is what it reflects. Get the point along between excessive and gratuitous violence realism.

The quality of the actors is somewhat irregular. I guess this is because many of them were inhabitants of the favelas and were not professional actors. However it did highlight the work of the protagonists. Both Alexandre Rodrigues and Douglas Silva.

The script, which is an adaptation of the book by Paulo Lins has very interesting points. It is agile and fun. To jump from three decades helps to see the evolution of the neighborhood and the facts. The ending is surprising and fantastic character development. Despite the lack of means, we are before a good deed.

Cosillas interesting
- The raterillos are great, be very alert to these little monsters.
- The way that explains how to climb steps into the drug trade is very enjoyable.
- The ease with which talks about corruption, the press, of bribery, poverty ... it is hard but interesting.
- The number of times in which the protagonist thinks that God City pays to be honest.

makeup, hairstyles and costumes help to put us in every age. Change over the decades and are a good choice. They also help to reflect the dirt and poverty which are surrounded, or the opulence of posh or drug traffickers.

The lighting is right. Especially the shadows and lights on black characters, who are the majority.

The music covers all Brazilian styles, adapting to the environment. We have samba, songwriters, disco ... all well located with respect to the scene.

again emphasize the good work they have done with so little budget. Because City of God is a good movie and highly recommended. Certainly makes a mockery of the great productions with millions of euros / dollars that never quite took off.

Curiosities:
- To record in the favelas the team had to bargain with drug dealers in the area.
- It came to write twelve drafts of the script.

Oscar Nominations:
- Best Director.
- Best Editing.
- Best Adapted Screenplay.
- Best Cinematography.

Note: an eight. Amateur actors and the lack of noticeable but it is a great movie very interesting. It's worth giving a chance.
