Caribbean Roald Dahl - Matilda

Fourth chapter of my childhood reading cycle. This famous work of Roadl Dahl (better known, probably for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, all the more since the scarecrow oscurillo made a movie about it) tells the story of a child prodigy in a family immersed disgusting.

portentous Matilda is a girl who lives with her parents, useless to those who should never be allowed to have children (although there are still shocked when someone proposes gestures such) and his brother, a young man who follows the father's wake.

Given the total lack of attention they devote, the child learns to read and work with numbers for itself and so to get to school, a lovely surprise and wonderful Miss Honey, her teacher.

The Talented Mr. Dahl (I could not resist and refer to it) is clear, his way of telling the story, catching and interesting, appealing to the humor and wit us a perfectly enjoyable book for children around the world. In that binds undeniable talent of an artist Quentin Blake that the rate of one every two-page picture perfectly illustrates a story that would not be all that is great it is without those pictures that radiate charm in each of his strokes, chaotic, little more than scratches that make a great all fresh and absorbing.

The tone in which the account is, of course, simple. A fast pace allows us to appreciate a Matilda equally fast adapting everything, sticks to everything, with 5-years reads Dickens, who is bored in class, but who wants to be one more, he wants to help his lovely teacher who sees the miserable ... and all these situations, Dahl asks them with astounding ease and fluency, while delivering far touches to the characters, rich enough for a story like this: the terrible Wormwood, Matilda's parents, liars, profiteers and swindlers; the monstrous head Trunchbull an evil troll out of hell, the wonderful Miss Honey, one of the most lovable characters I've ever seen, corolla to perfection by the great picture of Blake, and, of course, the very Matilda girl dreamer with an almost infinite potential and fan of Dickens that is saved, after its gamine's eyes, one last surprise.

Note: 9. A great story of a great author, a story well told and interesting and strong and charismatic characters. Probably the best children's books I've read.
