Fina Casalderrey - The mystery of Lua children

As part of my cycle childhood reading, according to some friends (started as one and that's three ...), every child should have read, I began with the mystery of the children of Lua, Casalderrey Fina.

I read the book in Galician, because it has come to hand, in the edition orange The steamer that is, the intended Children older than 9 years (I read it because it exceeded the prerequisites of course). I must admit that A hole in the fence left a taste in my mouth hard to beat, with that game scenes were both children and adults, so I took this with some suspicion.
surplus.

I admit that I looked so good as the French book Sautereau, but has a lovely touch rarely found elsewhere. The story is told by David, a village boy, who lives with his father, mother and an older brother called Xocas. It also has a girlfriend named Branca, which is very smart, and a cat called Lua. Lua has had kittens before, twice, but both are gone and the children do not know what to chalk it, so ready to be detectives of older, they have to discover it using all the tricks they can and not trust anyone or take anything for granted.

Lua, the adorable cat is the center of each chapter, but David is active camera and tells us everything that weaves the plot through their actions. Everything revolves around the pregnant cat, kittens will have and the obsession to discover what happened to the others. Many of the passages in the book, as you might suppose, are told with a tenderness that surrounds everything, which takes precedence over the rest. The book is meant that feeling beautiful, quiet ... home and sad seeks joy and sadness, in scenes played by a folkloric ultra filter fun childish ignorance.

assists the reader to information that, for the few children are getting inquiries. Lua is what matters, and they do not mind getting into trouble to discover the infamous thief kittens. Although the tone is usually pleasant adventure, there are chapters sad (and why they're flashbacks and you know that nothing really terrible can happen, he knows the current situation from the beginning) and of the terrible illness suffered by the cat or when find it, or near the beginning, when children and Lua half desperately looking sad and kittens.

I was surprised that the end was not expected and how Casalderrey Mrs. Hitchcock ignored the teacher and presents all the possibilities, to a greater or lesser extent, on the front pages. When he finished, though I had opted for another possibility, which also occurs in the book, I could not fail to recognize that the elements, at least, had been submitted. Of course, getting picky, one could still suspicious of the explanation given.

Note: 7. It is a good book and I think a nice read for children. But it is clear that this is lost with age and is equally enjoyable in a band in another. 15 or 16 years ago would have been my favorites, almost certainly. It is simply adorable (actually is "Currin", for those who really understand.)

How To Unlock Espn On Freeview

Charles Vidor - Gilda

Johnny (Glenn Ford ), a petty con man, is saved from certain death by Ballin Mundson ( George Macready), director of an illegal casino in Buenos Aires. The two men become friends and Johnny goes to work for Ballin. This friendship is affected by Ballin wedding with former lover Johnny, Gilda ( Rita Hayworth ).

Gilda is a classic but not one of the greats. In a film that is good without reaching the height of "Eve" or "A Streetcar Named Desire." Yet there are an absurd amount of references to it, so I very much recommend that you dedicate the time and forty that lasts. Gilda

a story of lies, jealousy, shady deals and scams.
George Macready and Rita Hayworth excel in their roles. Perfectly convey his jealousy, confusion, ambitions ... are convincing at all levels. Glenn Ford I liked it too. Makes "tough guy" as his running mate, but gives much less expressiveness and depth of character.
There are four main characters are all great. In fact, I think the highlight of the script is the character design:
  • Jonnhy: a small-time crook who develops a loyalty bordering on devotion to his boss. A devotion that has to be measured with the passion it arouses Gilda.
  • Ballin: a controller cold and calculating, surrounded by strange and dangerous business. Obsessed with world domination and Gilda. Yes, world domination, you read that right.
  • Gilda: Gilda is not the most honored woman in the world but neither is the fox that wants to convince Johnny.
  • The casino worker, cynical and ironic. Johnny specialized in insulting. It's a comic relief that gives a bit of excitement among both drama.
The other strong point is the dialogue script. It made me laugh several times and developed very well made. It is very predictable but it has some interesting points like: Ballin feigning death.

The music is based mainly in Argentina and dance performances and Gilda, then I leave. Beware of spoiler for the videos! My dear
:

Put the Blame on Mame (yes, this is the famous slap):

not usually highlighting the costumes in films that are set in their own time but in this film if you will. It's fantastic. Perfectly follows the evolution of the characters and helped position it in different places and events.
The sets are well chosen and highlight, among other things, the megalomania of Ballin. The odd game of blind and speakers office, pictures of himself ... very consistent with his obsession to seize the planet.
Two weak points are the lighting and makeup. The lighting is too strong on Gilda and very faint in all other respects. I understand the intent here was to highlight to the actress but it was not necessary and gives a strange look into the faces of other actors.
makeup Glenn Ford in his eyes dark, enhancing the effect of light and highlight your lips made up of a light tone. As I imagine it does not look very flattering.
While dubbing meets and can see it well without any problem, you will enjoy the original version the voice of Rita Hayworth, who hits a lot more character.

Note: 7. Is good and has to be seen, but do not expect a classic 10. It is not.

PS: I had to say, Rita Hayworth is amazing in this film. Beauty and sensuality in a pure state. Curves Live!

Milena Velba - Pregnancy Check

Clint Eastwood - Unforgiven

never know what to expect of his friend Clint. When a movie I like yours ... God, I love, but when I do not like, I find it mind-numbing ad nauseam. So when I get to see a movie you, I doubt: What group is it?

As usual, Clint Clint's character makes. Uncle hard and breaking that goes slightly wrong but it is actually a piece of bread that helps those who have nobody. Yes, Clint is roll or something.
The film goes a little guy a filthy crack whore in the face and the punishment imposed is not enough to calm things down, so Bill Munny (Clint Eastwood), his friend Ned Logan (Morgan Freeman) and 'Schofield Kid' (Jaimz Woolvett) come looking for him not to give quarter. As nasty nemesis, above all, and more than their prey, have the sheriff, a horrible, despicable and magnificent Little Bill (Gene Hackman).

generally has a way of being told so by Mr. Eastwood. Long shots, some scenes of open fields quite poetic, strong colors and sad in his epic emptiness, their loneliness. The story is clear and no walks with trifles, he knows what he wants to tell and how you will do it. Known to what extent can decorate-productive things and how much overhead is trivial and is not entertaining, or bundles, or delights us / seduce / tricks with colors that obscure the emptiness of the story.

Hackman's character is ... the archetype hateful. Without great compliments. His epic scene in which Bob disarms 'English' (Richard Harris, Dumbledore in the first two boy wizard with the front made a cisco), an old man of 70 tacos, and then gives him a beating, is an example of manliness and testosterone without objection. How hard is like granite Porriño. Kid is another tough guy, or want to seem so, because it is a pussy who needs to lie and exaggerate their false deeds to keep the testes of men being noticed really like Logan and Munny. Incidentally, my favorite was Bob ultrasecundario 'English', the actor does it so well, the character is so charismatic ... I think that led to my terrible hatred for the idiot with no self-esteem of Little Bill, which seeks to recoup licked Clint sheepskins. Seriously, Little Bill is a old crack hitting.

" I must have a face like you ." No part of this scene, mind you.

The final shootout scene seemed ridiculous. I guess that emphasizes the fact that you have a cool head is the one that hits, and the rest die. But ... Like that? Really?

Note: 7. Clint Harris and I loved Hackman, although the characters are a bit flat (all in general). Freeman, who always like, has no character, in my opinion, especially attractive. Woolvett supremely bored me, being well below most secondary, as Harris himself or whores. Clint already showed signs of his talent for leadership, with some well shot scenes, slow without getting boring (except for specific points of rhythmic death), but wasted, I think, some very dramatic moments.

Other films of his friend Clint:
Heartbreak Ridge (Note: 4).
Million Dollar Baby (Note 9).
Gran Torino (Note 9).

Alfred Hitchcock - Marnie, the thief

Marnie (Tippi Hedren ) is a woman who lives to steal, a kleptomaniac who can not suppress their impulses. Always follow the same modus operandi : it presents a secretary, get the job you are given without showing references and after a time, steals the company and disappears. He uses lies, false identities ... whatever it takes in order to conform with its purpose.
But everything changes when he crosses paths Mark Rutland ( SeanConnery ). Knowing the problem of Marnie, the contract to study and learn what drives him to steal.

The script is fantastic. In fact at the time broke the mold to speak openly of frigidity in women. Without being sleazy to the topic, do not save anything. The scenes are well-spun and the end is surprising. You know that something has happened, continually ask yourself why, you thousands of conjectures, and finally give you an answer that is not what you expected,

The characters are complex and well developed:
Mark: obsessed with Marnie, affectionate with his family, but distanced the rest of humanity, with a hint of contempt for them. Marnie
: thief, liar, frigid ... full of problems and mixed feelings. A woman who feels more comfortable with horses than with people.
Lil (Diane Baker ): sister of the first wife of Mark. Love with him and willing to do anything for it.

The performances are superb. The first time I saw Sean Connery I did not like. With a few more views I have to say above was wrong. I may not have the day or I lose some nuance, but this man deserves my applause for her performance. Tippi Hedren, despite all the rumors about Hitchcock's displeasure toward her, is impressive. Marnie is not an easy character and she embroiders. However, my favorite is Diane Baker. Get an air give her character lovable despite tripping to Marnie. Lovely.

care Hitchcock music soon in his works. But this movie has a great soundtrack to . Bernard Herrmann was brilliant especially. I suggest that you go through the biography of this great composer.

The lighting and costumes met. The make fails with Sean Connery. I spent half the film wondering what happened to her eyebrows and lips. I do not know what they have done, but it is not good.

One of the few problems the film is that it has parts that have not aged well. Some of the images shot on horseback or in cars become obsolete. That if, at the time had to be incredible but today have become very outdated.

The address is ... is Hitchcock, no doubt. A director at the head of one of his best films. A lesson in cinema.
During the play are interspersed two types of plans: a very short scenes focusing on everyday and keep the keys in a bag, take some flowers or a card to change the portfolio, others start from the roof, removing the viewer the center stage, and down to get a closeup of the actor who is in the room.
With this technique gained the enmity of critics for doing a very experimental film ahead of its time. Moreover, in countries like England was rated X by the issues concerned.

take this to mean that to make experimental films do not need to create a film over two hours ill done and that nobody understands. Examples of experimental film directors who were in his day, Hitchcock, Coppola, Alan Parker, Scorsese and Guy Ritchie. Does anyone not understand his films? That's it. Less gafapastismo and more good movies, thanks.

Curiosities:
-Diane Baker has always said that this was his movie and his favorite role.
"In his biography, has denied that Hitchcock Tippi not address him during filming.
-Hitchcock used a mechanical horse in the scenes with more risk to the animal.
-A Diane Baker would not let him read the script, she agreed to do before.

Note: 9. It's fantastic. A classic one of the best.

AMC - Mad Men (2 Season)

skeptical Sometimes I wake up and wonder how it may have continued to see this series. Is true that is very well done, but it is also true that, increasingly, is less Mad Men and more a tramp, a whore in the world of whores who are the television series, at best, perhaps, a very good makeup whore .

Why? Mad Men began as a story of advertisers, advertisers who had families, who had personal problems, hassle and bustle. A history of workers with normal lives. The obsession Draper exaggerated masculinity that the series has managed to evolve differently, in a way that much of this season and almost all of the following (I have long delayed this review for my ideas to make it cold) has been invested. It is no longer a number of advertisers who have a hassle and bustle life, now is a series of trouble and bustle in which, every once in a while, pass by the office and work. Honestly, I've understood that Draper has a problem of promiscuity and sexual obsession ... is no longer brings me much. Preferred advertising campaigns, the truth is that what distinguished factor for me, Mad Men Gossip Girl. That and the smoke snuff. Increasingly it seems that it is only smoke snuff.

Is now a bad series? Not at all. Mad Men continues to enjoy an elegant staging up, almost, majesty. The characters are still very high, although it is now engaged in, in general, to show off to mess mess. I admit I like the evolution of Peggy Olson (which in my opinion, deserved a life change y. ..) and I like the general patterns of both this and the following. I do not like, again, the proportion of frames / womanizing. Is that what will reduce Mad Men? There are many series for that, honestly, I think wasting the potential marked by the first, that conflict between male and female, society compulsive and gimmicks.

remains in the second a little reminiscent of that first, there is still some advertising slogan, but it seems difficult to believe that they are less abundant ... and maybe less important. I guess part of the audience will be grateful for the change of focus, but I was bothered a bit. However, it still seems the best that has made the AMC, after Breaking Bad.

"And if I think, perhaps again be the way you used

Note: 8. The series still seems very good, but I regret a little the loss of their initial strength, but the evolution of some characters and the tremendous technical achievement of the series remains, quite simply, magnificent.

Swollen Red And Hot Elbow

François Sautereau - A hole in the fence

A hole in the fence is a children's book by François Sautereau written in 1977 and winner of numerous awards, which presents an idyllic, bucolic ... limited by gendarmes guarding a strange fence.

The High People, a quiet, country setting, where there is a car that only comes from time to time to review the gendarmes, in the forest of Epnoi, there is a huge fence that is forbidden to cross. The children of the village, like almost any child, play against the ban, trying to get there, although out Beauras, a police issue, and men always prevent it.
Sautereau presents to children, the protagonists of the story. The protagonist is Grison, second in command of the gang, after Raclot. We are introduced to the group, and Grison adoptive family, who knows that these are not their real parents.

The play has a simple style, very suitable for children, but does not stop there. Sautereau not intended to take refuge in the false belief that young children's books and books without having to be technically or chicha. The story is simple, appropriate for a younger audience, but history has an intriguing twist, an obvious and critical reflection on the rural world facing the urban world. The characters are clear and concise, do not evolve in particular, although broadening of perspective that brings the story affects them.

Although I must admit I liked how it changed the Beauras out, how was your curiosity, how it evolved and how they decided to take active part in the events indirectly. I liked that side. And is that the characters all have their point, from the strange roadman Rafistole, the charismatic pastor Basile, through Robert, Beauras, Raclot ...

Perhaps what I liked least were some changes of time, in constantly alternating paragraphs paragraphs in the past with the present. I do not know whether any specific intention, though I were chaotic and little ... beautiful. He lacked the elegance that gives cohesion.

What more, no doubt, The Zone and the other side. The mystery, how it pinpoints a few, leaving taste and sense the environment, how it will show, how the information is given, keeping the tone of the story, but hinted at the hidden, sad and alienating the situation that includes everything.

Note: 8. It is a good book, a very good book, with the courage also to tell a story for children without condemning the absolute boredom and look disappointed when they get older. Well, yes, for all ages.

Thanks, Cris, for the recommendation and for your attempts to recover my lost childhood.

Throat Swollen After Drinking Alcohol

Tom Hooper - The King's speech

After the death of King George V ( Michael Gambon), his son Edward ( Guy Pearce) takes the throne as Edward VIII. However, his sympathy to the Nazi regime and his love for the divorced Wallis Simpson ( Eve Best ) are to abdicate in favor of his brother Jorge ( Colin Firth), the future George VI.
The film focuses on George's struggle to overcome his stuttering with the help of a bizarre speech therapist ( Geoffrey Rush), recommended by his wife Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon (Helena Bonham Carter ).

This is a film about self-improvement. Jorge's struggle for power in public speaking fluently captures the attention. The script and the performances perfectly reflect their frustration, their eagerness to improve, their hard work, complex family relationships that surround it, what their marriage is solid, their fear, their insecurities ... Prince shows a fear of being King and not make the cut. It's a great book that engages from the start making empathize with each of the characters.
The script makes a story so simple into something moving and exciting. The dialogue is brilliant and perfectly suited to the different social classes. Let us see each character to perfection, making empathize with some and despise others. In development of the therapy makes us forget who is the patient, seeing only a person with great skills and great limitations.
Every class, from the workers to the clergy, to politicians and nobles have a place, giving a clear picture of the society of the time.
The address is all you can expect. Has many close-ups, the actors support to perfection. Continuously combining different styles, without it being shocking and use of light in a masterful way.
The actors are impeccable, a great cast. Colin Firth is fantastic. We strongly recommend that you try to see it in the original. In Spain they have chosen for him at the same bender that Nicolas Cage and falls far short of measuring up. And it is clear that in this film Jorge's voice is the most important. Helena Bonham Carter is most correct in one of the more normal roles. Action without the eccentricities to which he usually does, is merely ... wife, a homemaker. And fulfills the role with great ease. Guy Pearce as Eduardo is also remarkable. Along with a great script, makes despise the character. But my favorite performance was that of Michael Gambon. It has a very small role, but I loved it.
also emphasize the extras. If you look when you see it, you'll realize that all look very British. They could not be better targeted.
The costumes and sets are faithful to the time and social stratum of the characters in each scene. Of the most remarkable. Palaces, humble homes, fields, factories, radio ... all you one step closer the time and venue of all. Do not have a single failure to talk about.
The music is composed almost entirely by Alexandre Desplat. The main piece is beautiful, but end up abusing it too much. Listening as a whole, the songs are not very different from each other, resulting in a soundtrack a bit monotonous. We also dig into works of Mozart and Beethoven. The platform as you have if you want to listen to Spotify.

Note: 9. Along with black swan, the film of the year. No doubt.

Elbow Randomly Swollen

Marc Cherry - Desperate Housewives (1 st season)

Desperate Housewives is an ABC series created by Marc Cherry, who is about the mysteries that occur in an American suburb.

On Wisteria Lane, as it is called the neighborhood, a group of friends left to talk and play cards. They are: Bree Van De Kamp, Susan Mayer, Lynette Scavo, Gabrielle Solis Mary Alice Young. In the first season, the mystery, in fact, is the suicide of Mary Alice Young. Why did that happen? What happened?

That's the main thing, of course, each character has a secondary subplot and, occasionally, lesser mysteries arise that advance the plot a bit. Lynette tries to make time to care for his monstrous children, some children are spoiled and unbearable that the worst of the series, Bree attempts to fix a marriage that falls apart so unstoppable, Gabrielle tries to prevent her husband learns of the romance he has with a gardener 15 or 16 years, Susan tries camelar Mike Delfino, a neighbor who just came to the neighborhood.

The characters, the truth, I was not too interesting. They are pulling a typical characters mired in some situations, mysteries aside, are pretty manners. Women with children, Gabrielle telenovela (how appropriate, right? I'm surprised no one has complained about the racist melodrama is the story of living the Mexican telenovela and not any other), the pair seems to be broken. The truth is that the only note of color is the character of Susan, so innocent, jinx and, at times, stupid that is, which can add to the mystery and soap opera drama with a little humor. Among the side, however, there is one that attaches itself enough, as Mike Delfino, Paul Young and Julie Mayer (Susan's daughter) who, broadly speaking, is the voice of reason from her mother.

Dialogues, in general, it seems a bit topical, one is original or graciosillo, but are the least and take too long to resolve situations, making small setbacks to maintain constant controlled plot and get a season each mystery to force minor subplots extending to infinity and beyond (or at least see that the second season this methodology is maintained).

Among its music has a good atmosphere (I just saw called "incidental music") great, a fantastic job of Steve Jablonsky, like the intro music, by Danny Elfman's always great, although I can not help note that the visual part of the intro not I especially like (today makes clear, not like when I spoke of the curtain for the submission of Mad Men). During the chapters, the management is very good, and all work is lovely image: the color with the light tone of story a little sick, clothing, scenarios ... In addition, the actresses in the series, especially Teri Hatcher, in my opinion, play a key role in giving interest or substance to their characters. Susan is worth something to the extent that Hatcher manages to convey something with their smiles dupes underlying, often, evil nature of Susan.

Note: 6. The series is good, and it meets; chapters have fun and dramatic chapters and none of them look bad. Maybe what threw me back over the first were the characters of Charles and Gabrielle, who were not only topical, but were the topic of something I dislike in itself: telenovelas. However, other points in the series took him to see the series with some interest.

Om-20ego-kenstar Microave Oven

Peter Catanneo - Joseph L.

Full Monty is the debut feature from British director Peter Catanneo so far had been devoted only to the world of television in his country, which has returned on occasion.

In Full Monty shows us Guz (Robert Carlyle) and his best friend Dave (Mark Addy). Both were metal workers but the company has closed. For the body of the factory only swarms of Banda music, weird guys. Gaz and Dave, however, are there with Nathan, the son of Gaz, stealing beams. Meanwhile, women in history expectant attend a performance of boys, this gives Gaz the idea of \u200b\u200bhis life. Make a full nudity for a lot of women wanting to see them pay a pasta penises, and allow them to foul out of the hole that has been immersed in poverty.

masterfully plays Catanneo the sad drama and a bit uncomfortable and funny comedy that borders, at times, absurd humor. The characters all have their point, although I admit I feel a predilection for Dave and Gerald (Tom Wilkinson, the most serious of the participants in the nude project) and all stakeholders meet, but stressed Addy, that is, since I saw the Movie ago more than ten years, my undisputed favorite.

" That is too fat, that's too old and that is an strips that he has no bones ."

entire film is beautifully ro. It is impossible to overemphasize the normal nice touch and give Sheffield, which they describe as a wholly industrial city in the introductory video of the principle-in the brief moments in which are recorded outdoor scenes, how, in those Currently, outside the seedy commercial low or abandoned factories, Catanneo brings out a great use of lighting helps to draw a sharp contrast between a powerful colors that call and set the viewer's attention. Furthermore, I note also that it's smooth action and the actors' movements across the screen, it is estimated that every millimeter.

And, of course, we must talk about the soundtrack, all of it perfect. That's a good summary. The music of this film is the eternal and immortal soul. The surrounding environment is very, very appropriate, guide it through the feel of the scenes, but the main one is simply amazing. How well it fits the context, the quality of the songs chosen, the time they sound and how the image and they are interspersed getting a result much greater than their separate addition. Magnificent.

Note: 7.5. Full Monty is a good movie that garnered several awards, particularly in music and best comedy or musical. Had to be a tough year to compete with Di Caprio in Titanic around, and almost perfect Life is Beautiful Benigni, but, no doubt, and I think that people resorted to jokes of this movie on the life EVERYDAY proves it, "Full Monty is a comedy that marked the 90.

Is A Bmi Of 20 Too Big?

Full Monty Mankiewicz - All About Eve

However, it should be their friends, those who appreciated the award, do not seem very happy. So begins Eve, letting us see the end from the beginning.

But despite knowing that something terrible happened, forget it as we see the beginnings of Eve. Eva, star of the sad story of his life. Eva, sweet, innocent and modest. Almost desperate to please and be loved. Eva, who weaves the minute a spider's web from which neither can escape those closest. And yet, despite knowing who he is and what it does, the worship. It does not help the character of Miss Diva Channig. Capricious, vain, sarcastic, and obsessed over the years.

The script is amazing and very intelligent. Great dialogues and reflections that give different readings to the same film. Critical to the film industry and the theater, writers, directors, money, fans, the villas two hours away, to critics, the machismo, women ...

The performances are fantastic, featuring Bette Davis who steals the screen. I never had happened but when she was at the scene, only she was. No matter how many players tucked in or to whom the camera focuses. It's so charismatic that you only see her. Anne Baxter and scared, hiding behind Bette. With downcast eyes, with trembling hands ... until it shows its true face. And then it seems someone else. The sweetness of her features become hard and purity provocation. also featured George Sanders , a cynical able to mourn the cruelest of harpies. And Celeste Holm, charming and on your site.
Great characters accompanied by great performances. As a curiosity, we have Marilyn Monroe doing a small role, that of aspiring actress. Is so young that I did not recognize. I thought, 'how that girl looks like Marilyn, but younger' P

The location is great and combines perfectly with the lighting. The scenes seem to reflect what the scenery: a theater, a car, a house ... The shots follow each other with total fluency and charm. Good work Joseph L. Mankiewicz.

The soundtrack is most normalito, nothing to say about it.

There are four big scenes in this movie:
- The scene where Margo discovers that Eva is his surrogate and facing your partner.
- Reflections of Margo and Karen in the car.
- When Eva blackmails Karen.
- The cynical critic telling Eva that he knows everything about her, saying she is yours.

The End: Fantastic
and round, with Eva and triumphant, and with a girl at his side ready to do anything to take its place.

Curiosities:
George Sanders you sound a lot for Rebeccca. This man is unbeatable making cynical.
The film is based on a true story, the story of Elisabeth Bergner .

Awards:
- 6 Oscars, including picture, director, screenplay, supporting actor (Sanders) and clothing.
- BAFTA: Best Film.
- Cannes Festival: Best Actress (Bette Davis), Special Jury Prize.

Actor Vijay Hindu Or Christian

Joel Coen - The Hudsucker (The Hudsucker Proxy)

The big jump is a strange film from the Coen brothers (odd, even, to be his) in which a genius Norville Barnes (Tim Robbins) is made with the company Hudsucker after a move of shareholders, led by the evil Sidney J. Mussburger (Paul Newman) to maximize their profits. And things were going well until it appears on the scene Amy Archer (Jennifer Jason Leigh) a reporter who wants to stick his nose to the bottom.

From the very beginning, the film is notable for its visual strength and delightful narrative. A quiet voice narrator contextualizes the situation while the camera moves slowly through the streets of New York in the last moments of 1958. Norville comes out of his despair from the window and looks down the ledge. The clock strikes 12 and proceeds to show the past in this story.

Presentation a Norville (which must be recognized that much influence the work of a lovely and amazing Tim Robbins, in the same year that would Shawshank Redemption, what a great year 1994 for this man!) is extremely tragic and comic at once , but has very, very benign. And it gets past Tim characterize a dreamy character, looking excited, person with an idea of \u200b\u200bthe hula hoop, in fact, "type excited about the future that you feel overwhelmed by the shouts and orders give ill-mannered, a man right that should govern the ship Hudsucker millionaire is to carry the best port possible, to be dehumanized and sour. What a actor!

scenarios, the movements of the actors and cameras, the mood, tone, almost as exaggerated as the characters, enhanced by the charisma of Amy and the brutal contrast between Norville and Mussburger vile and hateful, which is almost a comic-opera villain-in which tells the story, the ominous music, overloaded with strong contrast in sound and, occasionally, by volume, the long silences and the oddly humorous comments - very style of the Coen, of course, emphasize the theatrical touch, turning the film into an exaggerated tale renouncing many things to maintain their appearance friendly and nice.

And, as usually these types, photography, directing actors and scenarios (though in my mind are more likely to incredible landscapes to the big stage enclosed) are almost overwhelming. The aesthetic is very strong and immerses the viewer in a water color, at times, bronze steampunk, but original, haunting and dreamlike without exception. To sample the Mussburger office (with external clock of the large background) or inside the mechanism, which holds within it some of the rarest scenes from the movie ...

" Your rise was meteoric, your fall will be endless ."

also interesting to see how, in a slightly pessimistic power corrupting even the innocent just Norville, making one more, a director and arrogant tyrant who needs a strong voice and a slap it back down.

And, last but not least, with the participation of short duration, a common action for the Coens, the great New York actor Steve Buscemi, and, as I see on IMDB, also with Jim True-Frost, Prez in The Wire, though, the truth is that not even remember who can be here.

Note: 9. One of the funniest and most captivating films I've seen, with music and a perfect delivery at all times. I guess the movie deserved much more, but appeared the same year as Pulp Fiction, The Shawshank Redemption, Forrest Gump and The Lion Tey, there must have been an easy year.

Other reviews of the Coen:
Grit.
Death among the flowers.
Burn After Reading.

This film is not pretty or easy to see. It is very hard and does not save anything at the time to reflect the cruelty, suffering and violence.

The great failure of this film is the first half hour. Help context, it is true. But the note a bit poorer. Too slow for my taste. It is the only failure of a script that atrevidísimo few things. Child abuse, homosexuality, bribery, corruption, beatings ... all exposed to our view without any shame. makes it not the Turkish government of the time but not the American. No let-headed puppet. The dialogues are
millimeter care and coordinate perfectly with the scenes. The events are fine yarn and the tension is palpable. A great work of Oscar-winning Oliver Stone .

As certainly outstanding performances of Brad Davis. Is an interpretation that is breathtaking. It is credible for a boyfriend happy, then as a prisoner and finally as a mentally unbalanced that you have disconnected with reality.
The rest of the cast does not detract at all. The scene in which: his girlfriend are visiting and he asks her to show her breast to masturbate is pure desperation on the part of both of the best I've ever seen.

Management plays well with the lights and shadows. Take a great game to darkness. Play with plans that we may seem strange but get a great effect with the lighting, the script and performances. Great job Alan Parker .

The makeup is very good. The characters seem constantly dirty and abused. There is a remarkable work of characterization to achieve resemblance between the characters real and fictional.

The sets are what they should be: dirty. Disgust. A continuous feeling of dirt, disgust when thinking about touching anything that belongs to that place. Dusty streets, prisons that are falling chunks, prisoners who bathe and ten minutes are already covered with the scab that permeates everything.

music. Uff, music. Music won the Oscar for best soundtrack and I still wonder why. It has a good track: Istanbul Blues. The rest is techno seventies bad. So bad it's uncomfortable to hear. Greatly enhanced if we had to listen to such nonsense. I've heard in Spotify to see if the problem was sound quality of the time but no, it is very bad.

The dubbing is very good, so what you can see it without any problem.

Curiosities:
-The actors chosen for Billy and his father are identical to the real. Another great work of makeup.
-is based on real events.
-is based on the book "Midnight Express" written by Billy Hayes himself.

Awards:
-Oscar for Best Soundtrack, Giorgio Moroder.
-Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay, Oliver Stone.

Note: 8. The first half hour and the music take away points. But it remains a very good movie and has not aged badly.
